The Real Will of God For You!
All of these are matters of the heart. The rest is fun stuff. To do and to go and to preach and sing and to minister to people.
MATURITYANOINTINGLEADERSHIP
1 Thessalonians 4:3-7
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Micah 6:8
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?
Too often we feel like our vocation that we do for the church is God's will for us, but can I cause a different thought process for you today? If you are a praise and worship leader and you were suddenly struck with a vocal cord injury and couldn't lead anymore, would that cause you to be out of God's will? I would say not. Your vocation in the service of God is given to you by grace.
Now Holy Ghost empowers you to do this and a lot of people will say it is God's will for them to preach or sing or be of service. I get it. Even Paul in a lot of his writings said, "I come to you by the will of God". In this instance you would trade "will" with "power" or "grace" or "unction". Meaning Paul desired to be somewhere and by grace or power of Holy Ghost he would come. It is because of this and the teaching that we ought to be busy about the kingdom we have mixed vocation with will.
In today's society there is sometimes very little stability in our young leaders and finding out that our vocation seems to often be pushed on us and that we must "do", we can find ourselves frustrated, not knowing what God's true will is for us. Let me tell you this: SLOW DOWN. If you read the scriptures above you find God's will has more to do with heart posture than vocation.
Sanctification. This means that God wants to clean you up and have you walking upright.
Walk in the sanctification and honor. This means not only clean up one time but to walk in it constantly. God called us to holiness.
To walk in love in your relationship with your fellow brother and sister
Walk with a grateful heart. Be thankful for this is the will of God for you.
Be just.
Be merciful
Be humble
All of these are matters of the heart. The rest is fun stuff. To do and to go and to preach and sing and to minister to people. What good would it do to win the world but lose your own soul? We are more than just what we do. What we do should not define us, but how we do it will.
I can preach the best sermon ever, but if I treat my wife like dirt, what good am I?
I can sing like an angel and worship like no other, but filthy communication flows in between my sessions, am I really sanctified?
I can pray the paint off walls but turn and gossip later, am I pleasing to God?
Don't mix vocation with God's will. What we do is not who we are. Are we partakers of the divine nature of God like 2 Peter 1:4 talks about? God's gifts are without repentance, we can always walk in these, but these do not define us.
God's will for our lives is to love God with all out heart mind body and strength and to love our neighbors like we would love ourselves. This is truly God's only will for our lives. If we love God and our neighbor, we will clean up our lives. We will walk humbly before our neighbor and God. We will be just and not defraud, we will be merciful and not judgmental. We will walk and talk holiness and have an attitude of gratitude toward God our Saviour! Be encouraged today man and woman of God and let yourself off the hook to perform. Rest in God! He likes your performance but loves your heart posture.
