God-Given Dreams

There is much reference to the use of dreams in the Word of God. Both Old and New Testament. God uses them to convey much to a person. We are even told that in the last days these will increase. (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17) So if you are not experiencing these, my advice is that you purposely ask for them. God will bring them and you will be astounded by them. And they will contain everything from the prophetic (as this one did) to answers in your needs, people He wants you to connect with, joyous moments, and more.

I had a prophetic dream this morning. It has a powerful message to both myself and to others. My wife is in this dream and though she is used to teach a central part of this, I want to emphasize that it truly DOES NOT reflect who she is.

The Dream
Diana (my wife) and I were on vacation at a hotel in Florida. The name of the hotel was the Hampton Inn South. That’s important. Diana had gotten upset with me for some reason I was unaware of. She told me to leave (presumably to “clear the air”) and go to the store for a while. So, I went for a walk.

I wandered for what seemed like miles and miles before I started back. But I couldn't remember the way back to the hotel. Even struggled to remember the hotel name.

I started calling Diana on my cell phone for help. Several times, but she refused to answer.

Stopping at one hotel, thinking it was the right one, I walked inside and up to the desk. After asking for Diana, the clerk said there was no one there by that name and that I needed to look elsewhere. He was rude and wouldn't even give me the time of day. So, I walked to the next hotel.

Again, asking for Diana. This time the clerk made fun of me and said, "Are you lost, little man?" I explained the situation and he just kept laughing.

I left and went on down the street skipping the next two or three hotels. I decided to try again and walked into the next one. I inquired about Diana and they said no that she wasn’t there. But they were kind and asked if they could help me find the right hotel. I said, “Yes, please.”

They began asking me questions, looking for clues, but I couldn't answer them. They wanted to help, but obviously couldn’t since I failed to remember anything. Walking outside, I felt frustrated and defeated.

Finally, I tried calling Diana again. This time, she answered. She became angry that I couldn't even remember the name of the hotel. She just kept blasting away at me. I finally said. “Look, it’s obvious you don't want me anymore, so just tell me what the name of the hotel is and I'll come get my stuff.”

She did and when I got back to the hotel, she was livid. She told me I wasn’t going anywhere. “And if you do, you better not just leave me here. I'm going with you. I don't love you, but I don't want anybody else to love you either.

“You are of no use to me,” she yelled. “I can find better men everywhere. But it’s obvious you could never find your way without me. You need me more than I need you and you better not forget that!”

Interpretation
I feel like this is the message God is sending to me/us through this dream:

“Be aware of the ungodly soul ties you have bound yourself with. I have called you into ministry and when you started you were strong. You matured into the man I had called you to be. Yet somewhere along the line you decided that you wanted to go somewhere without seeking me.

“The enemy lured you into a place of luxury and ease. You didn't go in the way I told you to go. You "married" into something I never meant for you to be a part of.

“Because of this you have lost your way. You went in every direction imaginable. You entered all types of ministries, seeking and searching for something that is not there. Even when I separated you out and away, giving you a way to escape, you kept searching for that one thing that held you bound. So, you return and return and return to it. Over and over.

“Even when you prepare to leave it, this will follow you until you find a way to remove it from your path. You must divorce the thing in which you have entangled yourself. This thing that keeps you beat down, thinking you are never any better and no one wants to have you. It is an ungodly soul tie that needs to be severed and seared. I am calling you away to find that place in which I can come with my healing to bring you back to the wholeness I have called you to. It is in Me and Me alone will you find the satisfaction you are seeking. It is in Me and surrounded by My presence that will bring the fulfillment that leads to the peace you need in your life.”

Dreams
God may speak to you something powerful in a dream. He may simply confirm that you are His child, and He loves you. In a dream state many of the reservations that are a part of us in our day-to-day life are set aside. Often these are inhibitors to God’s vision and plans for us. However the above word spoke to you, do not be afraid of what God may want to give you in dreams. Always, always, always seek the Holy Spirit for guidance. Sometimes a weird dream is God trying to tell you something. Sometimes a weird dream is just a weird dream.
